Microangelo Toolset Reviewer's Comments
Microangelo Toolset 6 is a unique software package that actually contains four different programs. These programs include The Explorer, The Librarian, The Studio and The Animator, each provides different tools and abilities.
The Explorer can be used to browse your system for icons and cursors as well as launch files into the other three programs. The Librarian generates icon libraries and allows you to access, edit and organize your icons. The Studio is a full icon editor where you can create and edit. And finally, the Animator will animate your icons or cursors.
The Studio within Microangelo Toolset 6 has full drawing capabilities to create unique icons. You can also import images from the web, a camera or the clipboard. If you do not want to design your own image, you can begin with one of their templates. The Explorer can extract existing icons from your computer system.
Editing Icons:
Microangelo's Studio also allows you to edit icons with its drawing tools. You can add text, use the selection tool to edit parts of your icon and see design changes in a preview window. Microangelo Studio does not allow you to change the hue, opacity or brightness of an existing image.
Managing Icons:
Microangelo Library manages icons in easy-to-organize files and stored icons can be viewed all at once or in various modes. For example, you can see how the icon would look as a desktop icon or as a Windows icon. Double-clicking an icon in the Library quickly sends it to the Studio for editing. A drag and drop tool makes moving icons between the four programs easy.
Ease of Use:
Microangelo Toolset 6 is easy to use. However, maneuvering between four different programs takes practice.
Help/Support:
Their help documentation is good although it lacks step-by-step tutorials. They have online help, email support, FAQs and a user's forum for technical support. They responded to our email within a few hours.
Summary:
Microangelo Toolset 6 provides powerful tools for exploring, managing, creating, editing and animating icons and cursors through four unique programs. It is one of the few packages that can animate icons and cursors. Although moving between the four toolsets is effortless, we preferred the all-in-one interface of our #1 product IconWorkshop.
